Quarantine BNB was hacked together by CovidCrashers at the ACS #flattenthecurve Hackathon 2020 in 48 hours. A high population of essential workers are unable to self-isolate themselves as desired due to issues such as vulnerable family members in shared households and difficulties in finding other affordable accommodation. As a team, CovidCrashers believes that these individuals and their family members could be identified as the vulnerable one in Australia’s fight against COVID-19. Quarantine-BnB is an online marketplace for self-quarantine accommodation offers and arrangements due to the COVID-19 situation. This platform enables people to promote physical distancing in a preferred place and location other than their home with their family or close relatives which not only reduces the possibilities of spreading the virus but also offers a supportive and stress-free environment.
In March 2020, just as the SARS COV-2 begin to spread across Australia, ACS (Australian Computer Society) organised an international virtual hackathon. The hackathon which was themed '#FlattenTheCurve' invited professionals across Tech and Design to come up with solutions that may solve 5 imminent challenges. 1)Education during the pandemic. 2)Helping health systems cope. 3)Protecting vulnerable populations. 4)Future of work. 5)Mental health and wellness. Once individuals registered, they moved onto slack to find a team and then design a solution to the prototype stage within 48hrs.
After finding a team, the first thing to do was to settle on idea for the challenge in question which was 'Protecting vulnerable populations'. After a bit of brainstorming amongst the team, we came up with a solution of sourcing properties to create a quarantine housing solution. Considering there would be many workers who might still have to physically go to work, may not want to endanger their families and friends by going back home. This when Quarantine BNB came into place.
There are three main types of customer segmentations. Geographic, demographic, and behavioural segmentations used to set the target customers:

Hosts:
People who owned a house or an apartment for investment.
Guests:
• People who just returned from overseas,
• People who have been in close contact with an infected person,
• The essentials service workers
• Age: between 18-60 years old
• Type: Individual and family or close relatives
• Health condition: No previous chronic health condition or disease
Behavioural Segmentation:

Guests:
those who are aware of their exposure to coronavirus and family or housemate’s health.
We also built a key scenario where the app can be realised for a user flow.
The same was built with the help of a UI toolkit (Figma) to demonstrate the flow as a prototype.
As part of the final submission to the hackathon, the team put together this video as well to demonstrate a use case.
